Many of us think that assemblages were first constructed one century ago, when Pablo Picasso
created cubist constructions. Other names, attached to the art form are Marcel Duchamp,
Louise Nevelson, Robert Rauschenberg, Kurt Schwitters and (first using the name of
assemblage) Jean Dubuffet. For a more complete listing of 20th century assemblagists, see

On the same day I received an email from Absolute Arts letting me know that one of my photomontages of Mom was to be featured for their 24 hour rotation (not that it brings in money!), I received the link above too.
Hmm...maybe I should get around to trying to put those montages altogether in a book.
I could at least give it to family.

Diane, 'Nine by Nine' is dyed (with acrylic paint) fabric and tissue embedded with bee's wax on canvas. I, too, mix oil paint with wax, but I do not do wax painting. I use pigmented wax as a base layer or to fill a large area.
