found out several days ago that i was one of a dozen or so artists who've received a $7500 grant from the kentucky arts
council without artistic conditions! a blessing, but of course it would happen right when we've gone over budget
renovating our house, so a portion will be used to get us back on track... as it stands, i should have roughly half to make
upgrades to the computer software i use in making my collages (a new wacom drawing tablet would be nice! plus a
sleek laptop so i wouldnt have to schlep around my desktop everytime we go out of town for significant amounts of
time! - im gonna end up doing damage to it one day packing and unpacking it so often!)
hopefully the check will be there waiting for us when we return home, especially since i havent sold any art since my
solo exhibit back in december. new work is needing to be produced to replace the bulk of what was sold so i can line up
new arenas for future showing. outside of the piece i have in the washington, dc hip-hop exhibit: mcs, mics and metaphors, this is the first time in 18 months where i dont have anything lined up for my work, not even a coffee house
(which i said i'd never show in again anyway!)
but this award will allow me time to get back to promoting myself the way i need to. i'm really looking foward to
seeing how the rest of the year plays out.
