- What kind of art do you do?
- Lisa Roberts is a nomadic collage artist who currently works as Terho Hongisto in the Finnish Archipelago on the island of Kemiönsaari.
She creates new compositions with found imagery, and paper ephemera such old medical text books, discontinued office materials, displaced family photographs and handwritten notes. Terho combines dislocated and discarded elements and re-presents them as playful assemblages with new life and meaning.
The process is considered. Sometimes limitations are put on the materials or length of session but always collages made as a series are always produced at the simultaneously.
With influences such as Kurt Schwitters, John Hoyland, Dada and automatism, Terho aims to challenge visual convention sometimes by dissolving figurative images into pure abstractions.
More recently she has started to create sculptural assemblages that, like her 2D collages, are reworkings of human remains.
