Jemison Roger Beshears has not received any gifts yet
My name is Jemison Beshears. I am 66 years old and have been doing assemblage since 1977. I have Masters degrees in Sculpture from San Francisco State University and History from East Carolina University. I studied Art under Melville Price at the University of Alabama and Seymour Locks at San Francisco State University. I have retired from my day job as an antique firearms specialist. My past influences are Joseph Cornell, Wallace Berman and Bruce Conner. My current likes and influences are James Michael Starr, Mike Bennion, Mike Wilson, Michael McMillen, Rebeca Trevino and many others. I believe in instinctive abstract relationships of objects, trying to be intimate without being sentimental. To me, found objects are my palette and the selection begins when I see an object I am drawn to. I try to use materials that I find in my daily journey through life, whether on the ground, at a flea market or something I have cultivated from use with materials.
