"When I Was Broken"
Assemblage
Found objects (power box, cobbler's shoes, wire, lock, key, plastic toys, doll parts and power cord) and oil paint
Approx. 22" h

I begin with randomly found objects; attributing characteristic to each as I bring them together to form a whole. As this piece came together, this verse by A.A.Milne came to mind:

Now We are Six (1927)

When I was One,
I had just begun.
When I was Two,
I was nearly new.
When I was Three
I was hardly me.
When I was Four,
I was not much more.
When I was Five,
I was just alive.
But now I am Six,
I'm as clever as clever,
So I think I'll be six now for ever and ever.
