Brushes, Hammers, Paste and Nails
The original title of this work is Tuyour Ayloul and is an homage to the late Lebanese writer Emily Nasrallah who wrote extensively about migration and the life experiences of her compatriots abroad. Like birds migrating in September, humans have been fleeing from hardship and in search of better lands since time immemorial .
This work is a mixed media collage laboriously executed by a long process of fragmentation and reconstruction , painting, cutting , gloss medium encasing of newspapers and varnishing. I painstakingly work from first principles preparing my own pigments and substrates all the way to the reconstituted final work .
