I have always been a music lover and when I was a kid for some time I listened to country music. I used to have an old radio similar to the one in this piece. I would usually listen to it at night when the a.m. signal was stronger and could hear stations from other states. This was at the time when A.M. stations still played music and before the popularity of F.M. became widespread. Most of the stations back then played country music both new and "classic".

There seemed something magical in how you could hear music from so far away; almost like it was being sent by bolts of lightening across the night sky. The hopefulness of George Strait singing Amarillo By Morning and the sad refrains of Willie Nelson's Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain still echo in my mind sometimes when I am up late and enjoying the peacefulness of the night.

As I got older like most people my tastes in music changed over the years. At some point I heard Eddie Van Halen wailing on a guitar and thus ensued my interest in rock music. Then I began listening to Jazz in it's many forms and was simply mesmerized by it. Who cannot hear the sounds of Stan Getz Autumn Leaves and other greats and not be moved.

But there are those times when it's good to get a cold beer and good cigar and just remember those A.M. nights.

Thanks Adamandia..the radios came out of an old magazine I have. They remind so much of the ones I used to take apart as a kid and be mesmerized by the wires and old transistors. Of course I could never put them back together but the fun part was just tearing them apart..LOL
