"Just a glitch" Mixed media on two wood panels with original oncology hospital bracelet. Finally completed, a difficult work to create. Mixed media on two wood panels. Based on the play, "Wit". After being diagnosed with breast cancer, my partner was told by her surgeon that it was "just a glitch". Her world changed to one of an endless cycle of appointments with surgeons, radiologists, oncologists coupled with continuous internet searches for alternative treatments and answers. Margaret Edson's play, "Wit", about a university professor with ovarian cancer, serves to jolt us with the stark reality that cancer patients are faced with. They become faceless factory experiments as the medical system swallows them up and fear becomes a close companion. We are all going to get some form of cancer, it's just a matter of ... when.
