Brushes, Hammers, Paste and Nails
The difference between a landscape and a landview is that the former is always hacked and edited, while the latter is always protected and respected.
• Real Landscapes must be comprised of several sources
• Real Landscapes illuminate the history of land depiction
• Real Landscapes are constructed through “puzzle-piece” collage techniques [after Michael Oatman]
• Real Landscapes must have two frames:
1. Virtual—collaged, replete with color, texture and old world quality
2. Actual—plasticized, devoid of color, texture and replete with new world materiality
• Real Landscapes’ actual frames must be wireless and appear to defy the laws of gravity.
