My paternal grandmother was soda fountain manager for Woolworth's five-and-dime stores in Indianapolis and Chicago. My father shared a photo album he and my aunt had created in her memory. The postcard is of the Frankfort, Indiana Woolworth's store in the 1950s. She loved playing cards more than just about anything! She would eat Vick's Vapo Rub when she had a cold, so I included a vintage Vick's jar. The soap bubble pipe in the lower right hand corner represents the kinds of toys that could be purchased at Woolworth's, and is also a homage to Joseph Cornell.
