Love Wave

Love is one of the most central themes in art and literature, if not “the” theme. It is however a difficult subject to define, triggering multiple approaches, with significant cultural, linguistic and philosophical nuances (the love for a mother, a country, all living things...).

“Love Wave” has a double meaning. What most people don’t know is that the Love waves are surface seismic waves that cause horizontal shifting of the earth during an earthquake, similar to those we watch on the surface of a lake when we drop a stone, formed from the point of impact.

They get their name from the British mathematician Augustus Edward Hough Love, who in 1911 created a model for their representation, in the broader scope of elasticity theory.

It is my intention to link these powerful seismic waves, with their destructive and yet creational power, to the energetic reactions we associate with love, and for this purpose the designation “Love Wave” is perfect. It is my profound belief that there is an energy that unites all human beings (probably all kingdoms, mineral, vegetable and animal) and that all actions we set in motion will find an echo in someone or something, and that is why we suffer or rejoice empathically.

Aesthetically, the fascination of the symbolic, magical, mystical representations, from the “sacred heart” (crowned and wrapped in flames, christian symbol of universal love), to the Irish Claddagh (one heart being held by two hands, symbol of friendship, love and loyalty) to the winged heart, symbol of Universal Sufism (of the brave and compassionate transformation of all sources of fear and hostility present in each one of us, of the individual incarnation of peace in all our relationships and a reflex of mankind’s essential unity) is present in almost all the pieces, though filtered and reinvented through the creation of new symbols and new hieroglyphs.

These are timeless pieces, collections of unexpected objects, old and new, remains, tools, jewellery, shards of glass, pieces of wood, assembled with an intent, an idea that becomes embedded in the piece, which will now serve as a vehicle for this idea, this story. Each piece contains the symbol of its meaning, and so it becomes a new ideogram, promoting and sharing the message.

Its work begins with you through reading, observation and empathy, allowing this “Love Wave” to change your individual world, increasing your awareness, abolishing tribal and civilizational divisions, and uniting us around what is truly important.

After all... everything is connected.
