Mixed Media Assemblage
Post-mortem memorial photography was the norm in Victorian America. Families often only had the opportunity to capture images of their loved ones after death. In the 21st century, we often shy away from photos of the dead. This piece is a photo of a dead little girl mounted in a tin box depicted as a cabinet card.
